For the past three years I have had the privilege of serving as chairman of Â鶹ɫ²¥’s board of directors, and I have so many thoughts and memories as my term comes to a close.
I am grateful for the many relationships and connections I’ve made not only as chairman, but also as a Â鶹ɫ²¥ member. I attended my first Â鶹ɫ²¥ trade show in New Orleans 1989 and my affinity for the association and the members has continually increased since then.
Â鶹ɫ²¥’s success is dependent on the level of engagement of our members and partners. I encourage each of you along with other members of your staff to find a way to get more involved with Â鶹ɫ²¥.
Â鶹ɫ²¥ represents so many great operators, from the single site operator to the largest travel center companies in the country, as well as our industry supply partners that are so vital to our success.
Â鶹ɫ²¥’s success is dependent on the level of engagement of our members and partners. I encourage each of you along with other members of your staff to find a way to get more involved with Â鶹ɫ²¥. It is very important that Â鶹ɫ²¥ has your thoughts and input as it strives to serve its members. Make time to attend the annual meeting, join a committee, attend Â鶹ɫ²¥’s Day on the Hill or start a relationship with your local representative.
Advocating for our industry in Washington, D.C., as well as in our local areas is crucial. Â鶹ɫ²¥ makes it easy by providing key talking points and helping us make the connections that make a difference. As chairman, I have seen the success that can come from grass root efforts of joining together to send a unified message.
I’d be remiss to not mention the staff at Â鶹ɫ²¥ and the many things that they have accomplished. They are truly committed to bringing value to the members of the association and our vendor partners. Staff is working to create innovative offerings and programs that benefit all members.
In closing I have to say that I have especially enjoyed working with Lisa Mullings, who is a tremendous leader and does an outstanding job representing our association and also leading her great team.
