Â鶹ɫ²¥ on Monday, May 19 kicks off its annual Washington-Fly In, where truck stops and travel centers travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with Federal lawmakers.
Â鶹ɫ²¥ members will spend May 20 on Capitol Hill urging Congress to:
Extend the recently expired Biodiesel Blenders’ Tax Credit, which has worked successfully to lower prices for consumers;
Make permanent pro-growth business tax policies like the Section 199A deduction for pass-through entities, 100 percent bonus depreciation, and the higher estate tax exemption threshold; and
Pursue long-term funding solutions for the Highway Trust Fund that are efficient, protect off-highway businesses, and capture all highway users. Sources for highway funding should not undercut Interstate exit-based businesses through rest area commercialization or tolling.
During the two-day event, Â鶹ɫ²¥ members will hear from guest speakers Congressman Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) and Rodney Davis, who currently serves as the Head of Government Affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Davis is a former five-term Republican Congressman from Illinois’ 13th District.
The evening of May 20, Â鶹ɫ²¥ will host it annual pie reception, where members of the truck stop and travel center industry serve pie to lawmakers and their staff.
